After 30 years in retail management for Andy and 15 years teaching for Maria, 2019 came a year of change for us when we decided to look for a Bed and Breakfast business.
We didn’t know what we wanted, but we knew what we didn’t want. We noticed Stoneway Guest House in Bridgnorth was for sale. Living in Bristol at the time, we had never visited Bridgnorth before so one Sunday we decided to bring Millie, our collie to check out the local area. Wow! From the moment we stepped out of the car we fell in love with this quirky, friendly, beautiful piece of the Shropshire countryside and decided yes, this is where we wanted to be.
Once we had made the move we started to discover the area further afield but within easy reach – Much Wenlock (home of the modern Olympics), Ironbridge and Coalbrookdale (birthplace of the Industrial Revolution), historic towns such as Shrewsbury and Ludlow, walking in the beautiful Shropshire Hill, and so much more – and we knew we had made the right decision.
With our love of walking and having the Severn Way on our doorstep our favourite pastime is taking a map and roaming the countryside with Millie by our side. We love finding different walks and can help you plan for your walking adventures too.
We continue to add special touches to Stoneway Guest House, bringing modern comforts to our guests while embracing the history of our beautiful property.
Stoneway Guest House itself is steeped in history and has an interesting past and when you stay we can’t wait to share the details with you.
"Great hosts with a lovely breakfast and great conversation!"
Millie was a stray found near a farm in Ireland, was rescued by a UK charity, and we adopted her in 2010. She was about 18 months old when she came to live in her forever home with us
She will offer you a warm welcome on your arrival if you are a dog person. She does seem to know who will like to say 'Hello' and who would prefer not to.
Millie loves her food and will love yours too, so at breakfast time she stays in our living area away from the tables.
She loves walking out and about in the countryside, although she is getting a bit old now so these walks are taking longer and are a bit shorter.
"Greeted by a lovely doggy!"
